Department of Clinical Laboratory Technology

The Department of Clinical Laboratory Technology, established in the year 2005 offers a unique three year undergraduate programme with a vision to provide high quality education to the students with hands on experience in the state of the art laboratories. The programme was meticulously designed to offer specialization in science stream encompassing a strong knowledge in clinical laboratory techniques and an exposure to social disciplines. The curriculum facilitates the students to acquire diverse knowledge in the field of Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pathology, Immunology, and Molecular biology. The Department of Clinical Laboratory Technology caters to the quest for knowledge in clinical diagnostic technology, with latest application tools.

The programme was initiated with the primary objective of improving the employability and interdisciplinary skills among the students and to meet out the increasing demand for technologists in the area of health care and related industries. Clinical laboratory technologists perform complex chemical, biochemical, hematological, immunological, microscopic and bacteriological tests and evaluate test results. They develop and modify procedures and monitor programs to ensure the accuracy of tests. The curriculum renders supportive services to the field of medicine. Excellent job opportunities and prospects for rapid job growth are the highlights of this field.

The department successfully produced 11 batches of students since inception. The success of the department is judged by the placement of our alumni in National and International laboratories. The department of Microbiology was established in the year 2003 with the postgraduate programme and in 2004 with the undergraduate course. Department of Information Technology

Department of Commerce

The Department of commerce was established in October 1997 with 15 Students for the total intake of 40. In the year 1999 the intake of the department was increased to 50 and further increment 60 was made in the year 2006. The department has got permanent affiliation from Bharathiar University during the year 2000.

Under the Roof of Commerce department, the Commerce with Computer Application Course was introduced in the year 2000. Subsequently, M.Com CA was also introduced in the year 2002. The Department of commerce CA was separately bifricated from our commerce Department in the year 2005-06.

Subsequently, the Department of commerce introduced the PG Degree in the year 2006 with the total intake of 30 students. University granted the status of permanent affiliation to the PG Course on 2008.

The Department was converted to the Research Department status in the year 2003-04 with the intake of 16(6-Ft & 10 Pt) Students.

In the year 2012, the Department of commerce has introduced additional section for B.Com Degree Course. The intake of the Department was increased from 61 students to 111 students. University granted the status of permanent affiliation for additional section for UG Degree Course. In the year 2013, the intake of the Department was increased by 119 students. In the academic year 2014, the intake of the Department was increased by 120 students.

At present, the Department is effectively functioning with 13 staff members and 371 students.

Department of Commerce Banking & Insurance

The Course Banking and Insurance was introduced in the academic year 2015-2016.The Sanctioned students intake for the department is 60 and the total strength of the department for the academic year 2017-2018 is 164 with five faculty members. The arrival of market-oriented approach, globalization, reforms and competitions in the banking and insurance sector and the need to equip prospective banking and insurance professional to face the challenges ahead, our college has developed a degree course in Banking and Insurance for the students who aspire to make a career in Banking and Insurance. This course will provide the students, a greater in-depth knowledge of different aspects of Banking, Insurance and other financial services and a thorough understanding of the practical application of the theory. Banking is considered as one of the most significant career preference for students as it is well paid, secure and high status career. However it might appear that this profession is destined for commerce students but the truth is that almost all officers in banks are from various streams of education such as Arts, Computer science, Science and others. Department of Business Process Services

The Department of Commerce in Business Process Services (BPS) was started in June 2016. The course is designed exclusively for the students to enlighten their minds towards Business Process Services. This degree would meet the demand of graduates who could be self-employed or to get into jobs of business process organizations. The course is innovative in nature and it was started by having an MOU with TCS along with Bharathiar University. The syllabus of this degree has been approved by the Board of Studies of our college and several other universities and colleges across India. This program retains the essence of the traditional B. Com degree program at the same time throws open a new gamut of opportunities in new generation business as well. This program will enrich the students with relevant skills to manage business process which will meet the demands of industry apart from the fundamental education. Business Analytics, a collective term referring to the processes, techniques, tools and technologies that derive insights, information and knowledge from the humungous amount of data available, is increasingly being used in industries. Unlike the conventional commerce programs, the domain of Business Analytics call for specialized knowledge and skills sets in operations research, marketing, statistics, machine learning, data mining computer science etc. Therefore, a high gestation period is required for an ordinary commerce graduate to become job ready in the analytics domain. Department of Commerce (Accounting & Taxation)

Accounting involves the preparation of information for the purposes of control and decision-making and may require interpretation as well as simply recording factual information. The main purpose of taxation is usually to raise revenue but it is also used as an instrument of government economic and social policy. For a tax system to operate successfully within the law it requires a degree of certainty that may not always be appropriate for commercial accounting. Furthermore there may be alternative methods of preparing accounts that are equally acceptable in terms of accounting standards but the choice of which might be influenced by the tax implications. It is a matter of general belief that taxes on income and wealth are of recent origin but there is enough evidence to show that taxes on income in some form or the other were levied even in primitive and ancient communities. The origin of the word "Tax" is from "Taxation" which means an estimate. These were levied either on the sale and purchase of merchandise or livestock and were collected in a haphazard manner from time to time. Nearly 2000 years ago, there went out a decree from Ceaser Augustus that the entire world should be taxed. In India, the system of direct taxation as it is known today has been in force in one form or another even from ancient times. There are references both in Manu Smriti and Arthasastra to a variety of tax measures.
