The Centre for Curriculum Development focuses on improving and evolving educational curricula to enhance learning outcomes.At the CDC, we are dedicated to advancing educational excellence through innovative and effective curriculum design. Our mission is to enhance learning experiences for students by creating, refining, and supporting educational programs that meet the highest standards of quality and relevance.We envision a dynamic and inclusive educational landscape where curricula are continually evolving to meet the diverse needs of learners and prepare them for the challenges of the future. We strive to foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in education.The CDC focuses on achieving an educational environment that values inclusivity, creativity, and excellence. We believe that a well-designed curriculum is fundamental to student success and lifelong learning.

Objectives

Curriculum Design: Develop and refine educational programs and materials to ensure they meet current educational standards and address the needs of diverse learners.
Development and Review: Create and periodically review curriculum content, including lesson plans, assessment tools, and instructional materials.
Collaboration: Work with educators, subject experts, and stakeholders to ensure the curriculum is relevant, inclusive, and responsive to educational needs.
Evaluation and Feedback: Gather feedback from students, teachers to continuously improve curriculum design and delivery.
Enhance Learning: Aim to make education more engaging and effective for students by integrating innovative and evidence-based practices.

CDC Roles & Responsibilities

Identifying niche areas and suggesting new programmes which would enhance the skills of the student to meet out the industry requirement
Designing the curriculum and framing regulations and guidelines for all programmes in line with UGC and TANSCHE.
Coordinating the process of framing the Syllabus and orienting the staff about hours of instruction, credit points etc.
Organizing Board of Studies Meeting, Standing Committee on Academic Affairs and Academic Council Meeting twice in an academic year.
Planning for new avenues for students (self study, Extra credits, Skill enhancement ) based on the feedback received from the stakeholders.
Formulating the Rubrics Assessment pattern in consulting with principal and Dean Academics.
Orientation of staff on OBE and formulating the modalities and norms to be followed in the attainment of OBE.

Value Added Courses

Introduction

Students need to be trained and evaluated with the multifarious skills for any employability. Pursuing multiple long-winding degree programs is no answer to get a job in the current scenario. Rather than spending a lifetime seeking higher qualifications, Value Added Courses imparting transferable life skills and it gives a chance to update the skill set in only a fraction of the time and money. But, the value they create is very high. Value Added Courses are a fine way to fill the gaps in the knowledge and add competitive edge to the job prospects. As systems, programs and practices change, making it critical for job-seekers to have a range of competencies, Value Added Courses can help an individual to be a winner.

Starting off with a Value Added Course helps everyone to have a foundation on which to build a great career. Many of these courses may help to create an own enterprise and improve the further qualifications to fit the current industrial relevance. The courses are run by the departments on need basis including some private Educational Service Providers. The duration depends on the course which is conducted. Each course has its own assessment pattern, both practical and theoretical. Successful completion of the course earns a certification.

Data Visualization and Big Data Analytics

The program builds a solid foundation in Data Science & Analytics by covering industry standard tools and techniques through a practical, industry oriented curriculum. The program assumes no prior knowledge of coding in Python, R or SQL and begins from fundamentals. By the end of the program the candidates have a deep understanding of statistical techniques critical to Data Analysis and they are able to create Analytical models using real life data to drive business impact. course provided by PHOENIX IT CONSULTING chennai. duration of the course 60 hours

The course includes data visualization by using, Tableau Power-BI , Data Science, Hadoop, big data with Apache Spark, machine learning for data science, IBM Watson analytics, business use cases of big data and data science and much more. Whereas the elective course comprises of Scala, Qliksense, marketing analytics, social media analytics, machine learning with Microsoft Azure, MongoDB, Apache Hive, Apache Pig, fundamental of financial statement analytics, big data on AWS: Amazon Elastic MapReduce (EMR), amongst others.

The Central Government has been taking various steps towards the implementation of the country’s most ambitious indirect tax reform of Goods and Services Tax from 1st July 1 2017.

To cope up with the ongoing changes and bring greater awareness about the new tax structure and policy, the competent authority has decided to introduce the GST Practitioner Training. The objective of this Course is to enhance the knowledge as well as to provide benefit to the members in the global service market. GST Practitioner Training covers Definition and Concept under GST, Levy and collection of GST, Time of Supply, Place of Supply, Input Tax Credit, Valuation, Registration, Refund, Assessment, Offences, penalties, Advance Ruling, Annual Return and Audit in GST. Duration of the course 30 hours.The purpose of this course is to develop skills from beginning to end in the respective areas of GST in order to make them advance knowledge of GST

Business English Certificate

The English Department of Dr N.G.P. Arts and Science College has been providing the Business English Certificate course training for the students of various departments since 2012. To add a pearl to the department’s crown more than five thousand students have been highly benefitted through this BEC training and certification. Business English Certificate is one of the most significant courses offered by the University of Cambridge, London. It assesses one’s language competency in a business context and helps an individual who aspires for a lucrative job and decides to pursue tertiary education abroad. The test has three levels preliminary, vantage, higher and consists of four language skills namely listening, reading, speaking and writing. It is held on various fixed dates in centres worldwide and has two modes of conducting LRW examinations which include paper and computer based however the speaking test is always an interview with two examiners. The tests are conducted periodically; candidates must register for the exam through an authorized centre. The British Council, the United Kingdom's International Organization administers all the Cambridge examinations for cultural relations and educational opportunities. Every year British Council administers tests in our college premises as our college is authorized as the BEC Examination Preparation Centre.

Voice training

The Value Added Course aims at providing an opportunity for students’ to gain knowledge in skill oriented technical training in English Language. Its key objectives are to improve the employability skills for the students and help the students to think and work independently in English language competency. Likely it enables the students to develop their vocabulary and moulds the students to focus fold aspects of English language Techniques. To attain basic caliber in expressing one’s feelings and thoughts through oral and written the course provides good learning platforms in English language and also develop reference and inference skills given on any content in English. Through vocabulary enhancement and other required language skill development like oral-rehearsal the value added course intends to impart a proper understanding and autonomy of English language use and impediments in obliged environments.

Journey of IIC established at the Institute

The Dr. NGPASC Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) was established on our campus in the academic year 2018–19 and achieved 3.0-star rating under IIC 2.0 in 2019–20. Since then, the institution has actively engaged in a wide range of IIC-aligned initiatives—including calendar-based activities, Mentorship and Innovation Clinics (MIC), celebratory events, and self-driven programs—earning 3.5-star rating (IIC 3.0) in 2020–21, followed by 2.0-star rating (IIC 4.0) in 2021–22, 3.0-star rating (IIC 5.0) in 2022–23, and 3.5-star rating (IIC 6.0) in 2023–24. About the cell

The Research & Development (R&D) Cell under the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), supported by the Ministry of Education through the MoE Innovation Cell, plays a key role in promoting a research-driven innovation ecosystem in higher educational institutions.

Objectives

The R&D Cell aims to:

Promote a research and innovation culture among students and faculty.
Encourage interdisciplinary and industry-oriented research.
Facilitate product development, startups, and entrepreneurship.
Support intellectual property rights (IPR) awareness and patent filing.
Strengthen collaboration with industries, research organizations, and Academia.
Motivate students to participate in innovation challenges, hackathons, and funded projects.
Enhance publication quality in reputed journals and conferences.
Ensure societal impact through research outcomes.

Role and Responsibilities

The R&D Cell of the Institution's Innovation Council is responsible for promoting a strong research and innovation ecosystem by encouraging faculty and students to undertake quality research, funded projects, and consultancy activities; facilitating ideation, prototyping, and product development; supporting intellectual property rights through patent filing and commercialization; establishing collaborations with industries, research organizations, and academic institutions; organizing seminars, workshops, conferences, and training programs; disseminating information on funding opportunities and assisting in proposal preparation; maintaining records of publications, projects, and patents; monitoring and evaluating research progress and ensuring ethical standards; mentoring student innovators through hackathons and innovation challenges; and aligning all activities with the guidelines of the MoE Innovation Cell to contribute effectively to institutional growth, innovation performance, and societal impact.

Standing Committee

The Standing Committee on Academic Affairs (SCAA) is responsible for reviewing Curriculum, Syllabus and academic regulations of different programmes offered at our college. The committee ensures that the academic issues, proposals, and policies of the institution are consistent with the academic mission, strategies, and priorities of University Grants Commission and the parent university. The syllabus framed is reviewed in SCAA meeting for credits, hour allotments, patterns, reference books, text books etc. and necessary suggestions to enrich the syllabi are given by also considering the recommendations received from stake holders. SCAA recommends the initiatives/activities discussed in the meeting to Academic Council for approval.

Academic Council

Academic Council (AC) is the highest academic body of the institution. The Academic Council is responsible for academic matters such as framing of Academic Policy, approval of new Programmes, Regulation, Syllabi etc. The council approves the syllabi of various programmes submitted by the Board of Studies; provide guidelines for the conduct of the examinations. It proposes the regulations for teaching learning, assessment process, admission, discipline of students, academic collaborations, Industry linked programmes and other matters relating to academics. Agenda of the minutes discussed are placed in the Governing body for approval. The meeting of the Academic Council will be convened twice in an Academic Year.

Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) under the new education policy (NEP-2020) are expected to encourage different academic disciplines to engage in collaborative programmes and extension activities (sharing of knowledge and parallel evolution of multiple skills) to bring out desired academic quality elevation and innovation among students and teachers. Promotion of academic flexibility and sharing available academic resources are the two most powerful approaches to align HEIs goals with NEP-2020. The establishment of CoE in thrust and new emerging global technology areas in HEIs is the first step. மாநில மொழிகள் மையம்

உலகின் தொன்மை வாய்ந்த மொழிகளின் பட்டியலில் முதன்மை வரிசையில் தமிழ் இடம் பெற்றிருப்பது நாம் அறிந்த ஒன்றே. உலகிலுள்ள அங்கீகரிக்கப்பட்ட மொழிகளில் தலைமைப் பண்பும் வரலாற்றுச் சிறப்பும் இயற்கையோடு இயைந்த மொழியாகவும் தமிழ் திகழ்கிறது. தமிழ்மொழியின் தொன்மைச் சிறப்புகளை உணர்ந்து உலகிலுள்ள பல்வேறு தரப்பட்ட மக்களாலும் விரும்பிக் கற்கப்பட்டு வருகின்றது. எண்ணிலடங்கா இலக்கிய இலக்கண வளங்களைத் தன்னுள் கொண்டு விளங்கும் செறிவான பாரம்பரியம் மிக்க மொழியாகத் தமிழ்மொழி இருப்பது நமக்கெல்லாம் பெருமையாக இருக்கின்றது.

திராவிட மொழிக் குடும்பத்தில் மிக முக்கியமான தாய்மைப் பண்புகளோடு விளங்கி வரும் மொழி தமிழ்மொழி. இது பல்வேறு விதமான வட்டாரப் பண்புகளைக் கொண்டது. சங்க காலம் தொட்டு இன்று வரை தமிழகத்தின் பல்வேறு பகுதிகளில் வாழும் மக்களின் பண்பாட்டு மொழியாக ஒவ்வொரு பகுதிக்குத் தகுந்தாற்போல் பெயரிட்டு அழைக்கப்பட்டு வருகின்றது. அதன் அடிப்படையில் கொங்குத் தமிழ், குமரித்தமிழ், திருநெல்வேலி (கரிசல்) தமிழ், மதுரைத் தமிழ், தஞ்சைத் தமிழ், நாஞ்சில் தமிழ், சென்னைத் தமிழ் என நம் முன்னோர்களால் தமிழ் வகைப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது. மேற்கண்ட அடிப்படையில் கொங்கு வட்டார மக்கள், தாங்கள் காலங்காலமாகப் பின்பற்றி வரும் பழக்க வழக்கங்கள், பண்பாடு, நாகரிகம் போன்ற வளர்ச்சிப் பாதையில் கொங்கு நாட்டுத் தமிழ் தன்னை நிலை நிறுத்திக்கொண்டு ‘கொங்கு தமிழ்’ என்ற சிறப்புப் பெயரைப் பெற்றுள்ளது. கொங்கு என்றால் தேன் என்பது பொருள். இனிமையான மொழி என்பதைக் குறித்து நிற்கிறது கொங்கு தமிழ்.

கொங்கு மண்டலத்தின் பாரம்பரியப் பண்பாட்டைக் காக்கும் வகையில் கல்லூரியின் தமிழ்த்துறை இயங்கி வருகிறது. கடந்த1997 ஆம் ஆண்டு கல்லூரி தொடங்கிய நாள் முதல் இன்றுவரை தமிழ் மொழிக்கும் தமிழ்ச் சமுதாயத்திற்கும் மொழிகாக்கும் மையமாகத் தமிழ்த்துறை செயல்பட்டு வருகிறது. மேலும், தமிழ்த்துறை இரண்டு இலக்கியத்தளங்களில் பரிணாமம் அடைந்து செயல்படுகிறது. அவற்றுள் ஒன்று இளங்கோவடிகள் தமிழ் மன்றம், மற்றொன்று உலகத் தமிழ்ப் பண்பாட்டு மையம். இந்த இரண்டு தளங்களும் மிகச் சிறப்பாகத் தனது பயணத்தைத் தொடர்ந்து கொண்டு உள்ளன. கொங்கு நாட்டில் குறிப்பாகக் கோவையில்தான் பல்வேறு இலக்கிய அமைப்புகள் தோன்றி இன்றுவரை இயங்கி வருகின்றன. அவற்றுள் தனக்கெனத் தனிச் சிறப்புடன் டாக்டர் என்.ஜி.பி. கலை அறிவியல் கல்லூரி செயல்பட்டு வருகின்றது என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்க ஒன்றாகும்.

இளங்கோவடிகள் தமிழ் மன்றம்

டாக்டர் என்.ஜி.பி. கலை அறிவியல் கல்லூரி தொடங்கப்பட்ட நாள் முதல் தமிழ்த்துறையின் சார்பில் தமிழ் மன்றம் செயல்பட்டு வருகின்றது. ஆண்டுதோறும் மாணவர்களின் மொழித்திறன்களை வளர்க்கும் வகையில் பல்வேறு இலக்கியப் போட்டிகள் நடத்தப்பட்டு வருகின்றன. இலக்கியப் போட்டிகளில் வெற்றி பெறும் மாணவர்களுக்குப் பரிசுகளும் சான்றிதழ்களும் நிர்வாகத்தால் வழங்கப்படுகின்றன. தன்னுடைய வளர்ச்சிப் பாதையில் தமிழ்மன்றம் 2014ஆம் கல்வியாண்டில் இளங்கோவடிகள் தமிழ்மன்றம் என்று பெயர் மாற்றம் செய்யப்பட்டு இன்று வரை சிறப்போடு இயங்கி வருகிறது.

உலகத் தமிழ்ப் பண்பாட்டு மையம்

கோவை மருத்துவ மைய ஆராய்ச்சி மற்றும் கல்வி அறக்கட்டளையின் ஓர் அங்கமாகச் செயல்பட்டு வரும் உலகத் தமிழ்ப் பண்பாட்டு மையம் தமிழின் வளம், தமிழர் நலம் எனும் இலக்குடன் 13.03.2013ஆம் ஆண்டு கோவை மருத்துவ மைய ஆராய்ச்சி மற்றும் கல்வி அறக்கட்டளையின் தலைவர் டாக்டர் நல்ல பழனிசாமி அவர்களால் தொடங்கப்பட்டது. தொடங்கிய நாள் முதல் டாக்டர் என்.ஜி. பி. கலை அறிவியல் கல்லூரித் தமிழ்த்துறையுடன் இணைந்து பல்வேறு இலக்கிய நிகழ்வுகளை நிகழ்த்தித் தமிழுக்குப் பெருமை சேர்த்து வருகின்றது.

நோக்கம்

உலகத் தமிழ்ப் பண்பாட்டு மையம் தனக்கெனச் சில நோக்கங்களை முன் வைத்துச் செயல்பட்டு வருகின்றது. அவை,

தமிழ்ப் படைப்பாளி ஒருவருக்குப் பெரியசாமித் தூரன் படைப்பாளர் விருது மற்றும் ஒரு லட்சம் பொற்கிழி வழங்குதல்.

Tamil is considered and placed in the first position in world ancient language list. Tamil language stands and recognizedas a language which possesses leadership qualities, historical excellence along with the natural efficacy.Many willingly learn Tamil as a traditional language after knowing its significance which includes countless literary wealth.

Tamil earns all the quintessential qualities that are required for the language in Dravidian language family. From Sangam age till date Tamil language covers the characteristics of different regional importance. As a base of that our ancestors have classified Tamil language as Kongu, Kumari, Thirunelveli(Karisal), Madurai, Tanjai, Nanjil, Chennai Tamil.Kongu region people called their language as Kongu Tamil because of its unique practices in their life which mellifluously sounded to them.

Department of Tamil, Dr. N. G. P. Arts and Science College functions as an epitome of preserving the traditional values of Kongu region. Since 1997, the inception of the college Department of Tamil serves and imparts knowledge of Tamil Culture and its literature to student community.In addition to thatTamil department has transformed into two literary platforms. Elangovadigal Tamil Centre and World Tamil Cultural Centre, these two centresfunctioneffectively.Dr. N.G. P. Arts and Science College has secured a special position in Coimbatore for practicing various literary activities.

Elangovadigal Tamil Centre

The centre is functioning successfully in Tamil department since the inception of the college. Every year the centre conducts various competitions for students in order to hone the literary talent in them. Management applauds the students with prize and certificate who have won in thecompetition.On the road of its successful journey in the academic year 2014 the name of Tamil centre has been changed as Elangovadigal Tamil Centre which is functioning effectively till date.

World Tamil Cultural Centre

World Tamil Cultural Centre functions as one of the significant parts of Dr.N.G.P. Research and Educational Trust. Dr. Nalla G Palaniswami, Chairman, Dr.N.G.P. Research and Educational Trust inaugurated the centreon 13.03.2013 which aims to promote goodwill and wealth of Tamil language. The centre in association with Tamil department has conducted many activities to bring laurels to Tamil language.

Conducting conferences to enrich Tamil literature and culture.
Arranging meetings by bringing eminent Tamil scholars to share their Knowledge.
Publishing books that increase Tamil resources.
